Lorrin L. Morrison photograph collection. 1943-1945.

Contains the following type of materials: photographs. Covers the following war: World War II (WWII). Contains photographs of the following military units: 87th Infantry Division, 345th Infantry Regiment, 346th Infantry Regiment. General description of the collection: The Lorrin L. Morrison photograph collection is the photographic history of the 87th Infantry Division for WWII. The photos cover all the commanding generals, their stays at Camp McCain, Mississippi and Camp Jackson, South Carolina; a wide variety of training subjects and scenes, portraits of many of the division's staff officers and regimental and battalion commanders; amusements and diversions and community interaction in Grenada, Mississippi, and Columbia, South Carolina. The entire division is covered in general, but by far the best covered units of the division are the 345th and 346th Infantry Regiments, even to include panoramic company photos for each company of the 346th Infantry Regiment taken before going overseas. Unfortunately, these are not identified by name of soldiers. Boxes 9 through 12 contain photos of the division in Europe, to include a variety of subjects from headquarters, terrain views and battlefield scenes to German prisoners, award presentations, war destruction and miscellaneous candid shots. Many of the excellent photos have lost their name and unit identifications. This is and excellent collection documenting a single division's service in the war.

14 boxes (1428 photographs)
